Since 29 March 2019, the new Tier 1 Visa will replace the old Tier 1 entrepreneur visa. The requirement of gaining the new Tier 1 Innovation Visa is to be endorsed by an endorsing body and the amount of investment fund require is £50,000. The applicant is permitted to stay in the UK for up to 3 years and work in their own invested business.
This visa aims to drive economic growth, by encouraging investment into innovative, viable and scalable businesses in the UK. You will have to obtain an endorsement letter, which will consider three criteria:
- Innovation: New or creative idea that will generate a new market and bring UK economy growth;
- Viability: Skills, knowledge, experience and market awareness to successfully run the business;
- Scalability: Evidence of structured planning and of potential for job creation and growth into national and international markets.
Only chosen companies authorised by the Home Office can generate the endorsement letter to the applicant. The letter must be dated within three months of the date of the immigration application. If the endorsing body is providing the investment funds or is verifying that the applicant has the investment funds available to them or has already invested the funds in their business, the endorsement letter must confirm this. Additionally, you will have to meet the following requirements:
- You must be over 18 years old;
- You must have enough money to support yourself without the need to seek public funds;
- You must meet an English language requirement; which is at least CEFR Level B2 in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
